Already posted this in theory, but thought it might be useful here to.
In your opinion, which poker concepts are the most dangerous when applied by a player without a good understanding of them? Also, what part of the concepts do you think are most commonly misunderstood and how would an expert handle them differently? Example: I think the concept of implied odds can get beginners into alot of trouble without experience and familiarity with reverse implied odds, board reading, redraws, etc. Also, I think this concept is one of the most dangerous to players on tilt. This is probably my #1 excuse when I'm on tilt and want to make a bad play in the heat of the moment. I could go into more details, but I'd rather hear others' takes to this question. |

Funny, Shmackcash, I just mentioned odds in my other post and how they get me in trouble.
I'm also not aggressive enough. Much learned today! |

Yep, IO at the top of the list.
(1) Implied Odds. Great excuse to make bad plays. (2) Texas Holdem favors aggression. Let's see I have, um, nothing... all in! (3) The checkraise. I see this misunderstood and misapplied in LHE all the time, and build a pot when they want to push people out, or push them out when they want to build a pot, or simply done with a weak hand. (4) Tight is right. Often twisted to "weak-tight is right" by many. (5) Slowplay. People with supposed monsters on coordinated boards check to the river and then... all in! (6) The semi-bluff. Nut flush draw on the flop... all in! And a special for 2+2. (7) Good PT stats. I'm a 16/10/3 but these idiots keep beating me! |

Don't give free cards - not as dangerous a concept (when misapplied) as some of the others but it belongs in the list
