Default New HD Question

My HD in my poker PC died, but luckily I have Norton Ghost back-ups. I ordered a new HD, and I was just wondering if I needed to format/do anything to it before I run the Norton recovery program.

I thought Ghost images were sector-by-sector recorded. Would they need the drive to be formatted at all?

Ghost is so awesome. I can't stand Norton anti-virus but Ghost (Save & Restore as it's now called) is probably one of the most useful and easy to use applications I've ever used.

Is there anything I have to do in the BIOS to get the PC to recognize the drive? I've never installed one before.

not nowadays. today, your BIOS should be set to auto detect hard drive specs.

Plug it in and push the image. No fancy steps needed.

OK, so it worked, and I am typing from my recovered PC.

My only question is that when I go into My Computer and check the properties of my new HD, it states that it is 160GB (the size of my old HD) and not the 250GB it should be. A minor issue and I'll probably never even fill the 160GB, but does anyone know how to fix it?

you can try Disk Management, not sure if you can adjust the size of the partition after the factor or not tho.

Right click my computer, go to manage, then disk management.
