Default I Voted Libertarian and for Ford

Five elections, straight Republican ticket and I turned the knife yesterday in the GOP. I voted for Ford in my one non-libertarian pick because 1) I've always liked him and 2) I really wanted to shove it into the GOP deeply.

Even though Ford lost, it felt good. Very theraputic. Not to mention that I made a killing on TS shorting the GOP in the Senate when it was at 74 on Sunday. 3 to 1, I like!

EDIT: Also, I thought about our good moderator irons when I voted for Ford. Congrats on the victory, mod!

I was going to start a side topic but this is good enough.

I have always been fan of Ford and was bummed that he lost though given that states makeup I figured it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Personally I would have rather seen Ford win and the dems not regain the senate than vice versa.

What should Ford do now?
He's obviously only 36...and the one thing that would probably make him more electable is to get a wife and possible family...but what are his prospects?

What are the best prospects for a failed canidate in a senate/govenorship campaign etc in order to set himself up even better later down the road for another election run..of any of the above??

Do you think the racist ad decided the election? I was debating about how people that caused to vote for Corker vs Ford. I know the win was within 1%, so to say that it was foregone turned out to be incorrect, it was very close. But at least you were emotionally prepared. I was surprised that emotional attachment to Ford (I'm new to Memphis). Jake though, come on? Get some experience will you

The rain helped make it a close race. I dislike Corker but maybe he will be good. Harold ain't much of a Dem on some issues, but as long as he would side with Dems on some big issues, then that is fine. Bredesen took an easy win.

I HATE John Duncan by the way (he took an easy win as well). Biggest tool ever. Also, inhereted his politics like Ford, but a complete numb nuts.

Your marriage thing is right on the money. One thing they implied is that Harold sleeps with white prostitutes. I believe that had a big effect.

But as for now? Join the funural business...or consulting. He was very popular, so maybe he will run again after he is married, if he can stay in the lime light.

I'm glad dems have control of both houses. At least no more port bills for now.

What Ford should do is either move to a blue state or switch parties. The election showed that a black man of either party has a very small chance to get elected senator in a state where his party is the minority party. Republican whites don't like black democrat candidates, and democrat blacks hate republican black candidates. It's as simple as that.

So the easiest thing for Ford and Steele to do is simply trade places and relocate to each other's state.

He is still very popular. I think that he should bide his time, settle down a little, and then make another run. He is still very popular. I think that Tennessee is still leary of Democrats and that is what hurt. I doubt the racist stuff made a decisive difference.
