Default Car Detailing

They charged me a C note to wash the exterior and shampoo the carpets and upholstery and detail the interior.

I thought that was a little high but I am not familiar with the detailing world. Fair price or ripoff?

Tip? Whats standard?

How 'detailed' did they get?
What kind of car?

I detailed for a summer in college. $100 was a little high, but not by much depending on the car and what the client wanted.

If we're talking hard-core, your car looks like new detailing, $100 is pretty standard. But EVERYTHING should be washed, scrubbed, polished, etc, and there shouldn't be anything in any of the nooks and crannies that are usually missed by the standard car wash. If it's a couple young guys employed by the service, I definitely tip $10. If it's a guy or a couple of guys who own AND perform the service, I don't tip.

Pontiac Bonneville.

I only wanted the carpet and upholstery washed but they indicated they were going to do a full blown detail and when I stopped back to drop my spare keys off they had their toothbrushes out.

It looked like there was an owner and two employees working on the car. $10 sounds good. I was considering $15 to $20 but wasn't sure what was customary.

Thanks guys
