Nut straight on a monotone board 5 handed.
Was a bit lost with the situation i got myself into here. Don't really play AJ too much but i think i should have made a decent raise here to 10/12 given the limpers before me.
Given the flop whats my best action here with the nut straight and the 2nd nfd? Re: Nut straight on a monotone board 5 handed.
Easy call. You have a strong redraw and likely the nuts right now. If you see another heart, fold, obviously. (Unless its the ace.)

uh, raise? we sort of have a good hand here...and lots of cards kill our action or ruin our hand

I'd make a pot-sized raise. You have two outs to the stone-cold nuts. If he pushes, I go with reads. If he calls, I probably c/c to river.

c'mon kids, simple raise, simple call of a push. look @ our hand...we have the nut straight, redraw to nuts, redraw to second nuts. there is much more than just Ax hearts in these ranges here

make it 45 to go, call push.
if called on flop push any non heart turn. |

Re: Nut straight on a monotone board 5 handed.
Ok, so i just called with the intention of raising a blank turn. The turn was a T killing my action. Sorry for the lack of reads but the SB seemed like a donkey, and MP1 seemed fairly weak-tight.
Is this a bad line to take? MP1 took the pot with KT. I think the SB showed A8 with no hearts. |

Is this a bad line to take? [/ QUOTE ] yes. you should be raising here for 2 reasons. first of all you have a monster hand and you want to play a big pot, so pump it up. second you need to protect your hand from a bigger heart, sets, and to a lesser extent 2 pairs. charge those hands to see the next card, and dont give a chance to fold easily if a scare card comes off on the turn. waiting for a safe turn to build a pot, when you have a huge edge on the flop, is a big leak and a very weak play. |
