Headphones at Greektown
Does anyone know if Greektown allows you to listen to IPOD's while playing at the table. I've only been there a couple of times but never saw anyone wearing them so I'm not sure if they have a rule against that or something.

I wish that the people in charge of all Michigan rooms would spend 1 hour in Bellagio, or any Vegas card room. They would see how ridculous it would be to outlaw cell phones and Ipods.

[/ QUOTE ] Actually, cell phones are not allowed in quite a few rooms. Basically, any poker room next to a sports book has a restriction on cell phones because it's a state law to not be able to use them within direct view of a sports book. Hilton and Mandalay Bay spring to mind. |

Re: Headphones at Greektown
Every Vegas cardroom that I can remember reading the rules at ban cell phones. Not just in a hand, but in the room altogether. However, lately it isn't enforced unless a player complains. My last 3 trips I've seen them being used while in a hand, and the dealer has not put a stop to it or even mentioned it afterward.

Re: Headphones at Greektown
Thanks, Photoc! :-) I honestly forgot about Mandalay, and I have never played at the Hilton. When I go over Thanksgiving, I will definitely pay more attention. So, I guess the word "any" was a little too dramatic. :-)
But I think you understand what I am saying. Unless there is a sportsbook, it isn't a big deal. I don't want to carry on a conversation on a cell phone while I play, and I don't think other people would as well. However, if my wife calls, I don't understand why I can't answer and say, "Hey hon! I'm in a hand, I'll call you right back." It works many places in Vegas because they want you to go many places and spend money, and using the cellphone is a convenience. I don't know if you ever have played in the D, but electronic devices should not be a big deal. rob b |

Re: Headphones at Greektown
Actually it's the Michigan gaming control board that doesn't allow players to use any electronic devices at the tables.
