Default NL50: How badly did I play this 66 hand?

Bodog, nine-handed. I have $86, and I have the seemingly reasonable HJ covered by a few dollars. I don't have any read on the Button, who has $35 to start.

Preflop: BB posts $0.50. chesspain is MP with 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls $0.50, 2 folds, chesspain raises to $2.50, HJ calls $2.50, 1 fold, Button calls $2.50, blinds fold, limper folds.

Flop: ($8.75) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players]
chesspain bets $6, HJ folds, Button calls $6. [Arrgg...on this drawless board, he most likely has a pair or is going to try to float me.]

Turn: ($20.75) K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
chesspain checks, Button bets $3(?), chesspain calls $3.

River: ($26.75) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
chesspain checks, Button bets $15, chesspain folds.

1) Did I miss a golden opportunity to fire a second barrel on the turn with that scare card?

2) After he made that ridiculous little turn bet, my thought was to call it and see what he did on the river. Should I instead have either just folded the turn, or maybe have gone for a checkraise (i.e. Stack-a-donk with my "obvious" AK/KK/AA).

I don't think you can check this turn unless you intend to fold to any bet. A check-raise is a lot more expensive if he has something, or decides to get stubborn with one pair.

I'd be tempted to double-barrel on the turn. He probably didn't call pre-flop with KJ, or flat-call preflop and float flop with KQ/AK. I think TT/99 are more likely - possibly AJ - and he probably folds these to a decent bet on the turn. The board is pretty drawless (I can't see QT floating the flop), so I'd make it $12 and shut down if called.

PF I have no idea.

I don't mind the way you played it. I sometimes c/r this turn because his bet looks so weak.

The only problem I have with this hand is the turn. I think you should c/f this almost always or c/r his weak bet.

Best wishes.

If you think he'll float you a fair amount of the time, then bet pot on the flop. It cuts his implied odds and overall disuades him from making this move.

I would check the turn. But after he makes that wimpy bet, I'd strongly consider c/r. If you're not going to c/r, then I'd consider folding; what are you waiting to see on the river?

A cheap showdown.

... so that you can muck your hand to him? The chance of a cheap showdown is very small. Factor in that he could easily have the K, the J, or the 7 and it's a definite fold.

Calling for a cheap show down makes more sense when you have TT and the turn is the 9 or something. Then there's plenty of ways he can have a hand and still lose. With 66, you're only beating A high and a pair of 2s for the most part.

I would like fold on flop because your 66's value is gone on this board.

Given flop texture, that argument supports a CB more than it supports a check.

I wouldn't have raised preflop if I planned on checkfolding a dry flop like this one.
