Default Dealing with a ratholer....

I'm playing at pokerroom and this guy takes his profit off the table after every hand...he is a fish but the other fish dont get a chance to get their money back and neither do I..is there anything that can be done about this? support should really not allow this guy to abuse the system so badly cause if you break it down he is limiting his losses and everybody should be doing the exact same thing.

Well, all you are really doing is playing against a short stack. The idea that he 'takes his profits away' is silly...if he busts out, you don't think he will sit back down? Just adjust for the short stacker and keep playing. I'd leave the table if I was getting real annoyed though.

a) don't play at his tables
b) play at a different site where ratholing is not allowed to occur
c) adapt your play to take advantage of or at least to offset what you perceive as his advantage in playing with a short stack

Whenever you raise (i.e. with a hand), always raise exactly to whatever his current stack size is...he'll get the point.

Or follow one of the suggestions above.

Or say "Wow, I've never seen any good poker players do that in game."

I don't think he means 'always' literally.

It was a a limit game so some of the advice doesnt apply. But mostly I was just getting upset that this guy was taking money off the table after every hand and limiting his loss per hand to 6 big bets.

I'm assuming this is a limit game, as ratholing is not allowed by the PokerRoom software in PL/NL games.

That being the case, ratholing in a limit game has absolutely no effect, except for his intended one of annoying/tilting you.

My bad - I assumed NL for some reason (again, why I did doesn't make any sense as most NL tables won't let you do it anyway)- in that case I agree with the above quote---and the poster who said my point was really, really dumb.
