Default pocket pair reisolation preflop preguntas.

an aggressive player raises from under the gun. He's not an idiot, but will give too much action with made or semi made hands postflop and likes to showdown when he can.

everyone folds to you on the button. You have a pocket pair and decide to reraise.

Followup:

The flop comes down Axy, where x and y are both lower than your pair. We'll also assume that there is one gap between x and y, and that the flop is twotoned.

Villain called preflop and bets into you on the flop. What's your plan and why?

As far as the follow up, I am not sure how aggressive you mean by aggressive. Do you mean villain is raising suited connectors UTG to mix up his play aggressive? Usually, even aggressive players UTG have predominately high cards. The more aggressive he is, the more I would be inclined to call down, barring a K which I would fold.

I don't really see a point in raising anywhere, as we have a read that villain will give action with or without the hand, so folding could be a disaster.

Part 1: I chose 88 although I think it is a bit arbitrary between 66 and 88.

Followup: I think villain is c/r the flop with Ax. Still, he may have a better pocket pair. My line somewhat depends on villain's willingness to c/r the turn on a semi-bluff. My preferred line would be to raise the flop (folding to a three-bet) and betting the turn (folding to a c/r) and taking a free showdown sans improvement. If there is too great a risk against this villain of getting blown off the best hand, then I call down unless the board gets really ugly.

I voted 77. I'd probably just call down JJ+ maybe TT. 99-77 depend a lot on you exact read on him. It's somewhere between a fold and call/raise turn for a FSD.

77 is the lowest that I'm comfortable with 3betting here.
