Bankroll question
If you have a $500 bankroll for $50NL , how many tables would you play?
a) 4-tables : 1/2 buy-in each b) 2-tables: 1 buy-in each c) not enough buy-ins....move down to 25NL. |

Re: Bankroll question
Depends on your experience and skill really, the worst run I've ever experienced at NL506max was a $350 downswing. If you are confident in your game and don't experience a lot of variance you can make $500 work with full buy-ins.

Re: Bankroll question
The number of tables doesn't matter and you should never buy-in short. CW say start at 25NL but you can start taking shots at the 50NL games. There are a 1000 bankroll search for them for more details.

Re: Bankroll question
All depends on if you've beaten the level before or not. I think many of the better uNL players/etc would be comfortable with 4 tables of a full buyin each.
If you are just playing for the first time, I would recommend playing 25nl. |

Re: Bankroll question
From my personal experience, I was unable to really mentally handle NL50 until i had exactly $1000 dollars.
After that it has been no problem 7-tabling. I definitely think if u r just 4 tabling $500 is fine for NL50 |

I lost my bankroll 1.5K+ .A week ago, I deposited $100, got PT and PAHUD and started playing 50NL. Won $500 playing 50NL (about 2400 hands)and I'm thinking about playing more cash games. --flame away |

Re: Bankroll question
I would be hesitant to recommend anyone move to up to 50NL with only $500 however that’s not to say you shouldn't do it. If you do decide to move up, I would definitely recommend only playing 2 tables (provided u don’t start to tilt when u get bored). The more table you play the more likely you are to make a silly decision and lose a buy-in. Dont start playing more table until your bankroll allows. Also, buying in for 1/2 buy-in isn't such a bad idea, provided u adjust your play for a smallish stack (i.e.) don't bluff on the turn as much because people will be more likely to call without fear of a big river bet etc.
I would suggest you continue playing 25NL and start taking shots at 50. I have only just moved up to 50 myself (with bankroll of $1000) and did not do too well to begin with. It was not the players that were the problem - it was me. I was not as aggressive as I am on 25NL and overrated other players. A tip: play 50NL exactly the same as 25NL. The players are no different. |

Re: Bankroll question
I moved up to 50NL with $750 and started playing with $35 instead of $50. I just increasesd that to 5% of my bankroll until I was fully rolled with $1k. I would recommend working up from NL25 since it will give you confidence that you can beat NL50.

Re: Bankroll question
500 bankroll is fine for 50nl, always buy in max... either play 1 or 2 tables of 50max with 50 each or move down to 25nl if you dont feel comfortable playing with 2/5 of your roll at a time. dont buy in short.

Re: Bankroll question
2400 hands is nothing. You deposited 2 buyins, ran g00t, and now you have a sufficient buy-in for 25NL.
I did almost the same exact thing (except I started playing 25NL with $50 and no PT or HUD). After I built it up to around $500, I realized how lucky I was for never having more than a 4 buy-in downswing during that period. After having a recent downswing and a huge breakeven stretch, there is no way I would play 50NL with $500. I would suggest playing around 10k hands at 25 NL and then moving back up. |
