Default Trying to lose my gut. Advice please.

I just recently was introduced to a girl who seems to dig me and this has motivated me to try to get into shape. I'm 5'11 and weigh about 175lbs. My goal is to lose the gut that I have and get into better shape. Basically I want to "look good naked" like Spacey said in American Beauty.

So far I've cut down on fatty food by eliminating fast food from my diet and I'm eating less. I've been jogging/walking every night and I plan to continue to jog at least 4 times a week, ideally 5. My stamina sucks though as I can only maintain a jog for a few mins before I feel I need to stop. Nonetheless each day I try to jog for a longer period than the time before. I heard that jogging is an excellent way to drop the fat. I'm also doing crunches to build up my ab muscles.

I know there's been posts before about exercising and such, but any advice on additional ways to lose weight and get into better shape would be much appreciated.

The really bad for you kind of starches, like white bread and white rice (the ones that basically have no nutritional value) are the ones that really stick right on your belly, according to Nutrition Action magazine - that's why people liked the Atkins diet so much, b/c if you only had like 10 lbs to lose
(which it sounds like you do) it starts to go away really quickly. I totally commend you on your efforts, though! Mm as a sidenote, some girls (like me!) don't like six-packs, so you should subtly question her and see what she's into.

I suppose I don't necessarily want a six-pack, I just want to lose this belly I have. Too many beers, too much fast food, and not enough exercising. But cutting down carbs is a good advice. Thank you

Ah yes, no sodas either, which is easier than I thought. I've only been drinking water and tea when I go out to eat.
