Default Am I liable to pay for poker debt accrued now that poker is banned???

Okay, Im ready to take the heat and scrutiny. A few months before US Banned online poker, I dropped about 2K on BODOG (instant check feature) and other sites via Firepay (overdrated the firepay account). Now that gambling is officially banned and Firepay is out of the "game", am I still liable for the money that is owed to Bodog and Firepay? I know firepay already handed the account over to some collection agency but I haven't heard from them in over 2 months (usually, they send a letter saying i owe this much etc) and as for Bodog, besides 2 emails a LONG time ago, I have not heard from them. I know it is ETHICALLY, MORALLY, etc wrong to NOT pay up on what I owe. But what is the ruling on this now that gambling is banned?

I don't remember seeing oopsydaisy exonerated of any debt in the new law. Your not going to pay, theres nothing they can do about it. You probably won't be able to get a checking account and the collection agency will mark up your credit report.

There are principles of contract law that saw that you can't contract to do something illegal. The problem is that the new law doesn't make playing online poker illegal. So get a [censored] job and pay your debt.

So what does the new law make it illegal for poker players to do?

Do you think think it will magically go away? What advice could you possibly hope for other than pay your debt?

Your current accounts will probably be fine. The fact of the matter is there is not much they can do but ruin your credit. I suspect it's already ruined though. Technically you can be taken to small claims court but it is almost never done even for debts aquired in this country.
