I don't even know what will become of it. I only knew they were closing it from the email they sent everyone. My guess is that it's saturation in Google rakeback related searches would make it likely to be used as a rakeback affiliate site.

It is sad to see Rake Rebate Review go down today. It was like a funeral for a friend. I had hoped to see it go on for years to come.

New and exciting things are coming to Rake Rebate Review! Thanks for visiting the web’s rakeback authority. We are currently working on a major overhaul of the site and we ask you to bear with us for a couple of days until the new version of the site is up. Until then please check out the rakeback offers from RakeBrain.com and TakeTheRakeBack.com. The web’s two leading rakeback affiliates.

Hmmm. I hope this isn't what it appears to be .

Conversion of a leading independent review site into an affiliate-specific site strikes me as very unethical. Sort of like an appliance manufacturer buying Consumer Reports and using the name to sell products.

I wonder what is happening to all the sensitive information contained in the RRR PM system?

Now that makes sense. I think it was the intention of PL all along to destroy the site as a source for other affiliates to advertise. It was obvious when they screwed up affiliates for the top spot.

I also wonder if they will go as far as to spam all the email addresses registered for the forum there. Seems like they're pretty desperate for players so it wouldn't really surprise me.

Alot of shady stuff went down at RRR. When Rakebrain denied owning it etc.. Clearly you can see now the only 1 or 2 offers still there is rakebrain. We stopped listing there after pokeraddict left.

Without him, it became very biased.

As far as the people that have been running the site they had little if anything to do with the forum. I still moderated it. I don't see any abuse of that down the road. I don't think they were that familiar with the system or have the intent to do that.

If you are concerned about the privacy of your PM's go into your outbox, sentbox and inbox and delete anything you are concerned about. They would have to break into each individual account to read the PM's and I just don't see them doing that. The database is virtually useless to read as it is one massive text file and even if you bother to try and figure anything out no usernames show up unless they were typed in the message.

You can still access the forum by going to www.rakebackforum.com and there is still a link to it in the footer of all of the content pages.

Here's a copy of the email that they sent to affiliates last month... I am a little surprised that this wasn't mentioned here before today...

Dear rakeback affiliates,

When we bought Rake Rebate Review this spring we expected to make a lot
more money from the site then what was actually the case. Unfortunately
for us, advertising revenue hasn’t been what we had hoped. As a result
of this we recently sold Rake Rebate Review to a company that wishes to
remain anonymous.

The new owners will take control of the site starting November 1^st .
I’m not privy to exactly what the new owners plan to do with the site
but I can confirm that it will no longer be a rakeback directory.

Among other things, this means that there will be no auction for
November listings and all pre-paid listings for page that extends into
November and December will be refunded.

As a courtesy to all advertisers that feel uneasy about advertising on
RRR for the remainder of October now that the site in effect is under
new ownership we have the following offer:

Let us know by midnight October 11th (EST) if you wish to be removed
from RRR and we will give you a complete refund for your October listing.

Please note that after October 31st I will no longer be involved with
RRR and this email address will be invalid. Please contact me before
then if you have any questions or comments.

Finally, I would just like to say that I have enjoyed working with all
of you and I wish you success with your rakeback ventures.

Sincerely Yours,

Alexander
