Dimwitted robber asks

cop for directions

An armed robber almost got away with his haul April 23 until he stopped and asked a man sitting in a car how to get to Old Alabama Road.

The fact that the man was a Roswell Police officer sitting in a marked squad car didn't seem to phase 25-year-old Matthew Scott Klepper.

The officer, on alert for a robbery which had just occurred in Wal-Mart's parking lot, recognized the suspect and quickly handcuffed Klepper.

The Alpharetta man was arrested for armed robbery and drug-related charges.

Gunmen(?) rob

JC businesses

Two Johns Creek businesses were robbed at gunpoint in separate incidents last week and police find the robberies suspiciously similar.

A lone white man in his 20s robbed the BP Gas station on Haynes Bridge Road April 16 and then the Waffle House on Jones Bridge Road April 18.

The suspect demanded cash in 10s and 20s in both early morning armed robberies.

"We believe it to be the same individual and we are currently investigating these cases," said Fulton County Police spokesman Cpl. Scott McBride.
