Default Ethical Question regarding taking over for someone in a sit and go

Today, a friend of mine (who recently won a PCA seat and took 2nd in stars weekly tlb) called me and asked me to take over for him in a 114$ 9 man sng becuase his internet had died. He says its urgent, how close to a comp am I, etc. We're on the bubble, have 4 big blinds (2 others with 4 big blinds and one "big stack" remain) and I agree to play. Anyway, I double up, wait it out, and end up taking 2nd place for a total of $283.50. Afterwards, I ask him if since I won $284 instead of allowing him to lose $114, I can be at all compensated. He says no, and we get into a bit of an argument over whether or not this is reasonable. My logic: I worked for him (favor or not), I made him $169.50 profit, and I kept him from losing $114 so the least he can do is say hey, whats 50$ to someone with my roll anyway, esp. considering that you kept me from losing $$. Anyway, am I unreasonable in this request? Maybe I should have asked before, but I just immediately signed on for him and began playing under the gun. At the very least, I asked him to not discuss poker with me b/c I dont want $$ coming between us anymore. If ever I've felt more like a means to an ends than now, I cannot say.

Thoughts/Comments appreciated.

You saved him (roughly) his ICM-calculated prize pool equity. He should give you something like half of that.

he said maybe if i asked before he would have considered but its after the fact, lots of people owe him $$, and he doesnt see why he should have to compensate me for the favor. F this friendship over something that obv. exposes real character flaw or take it in stride?

Are you serious that you expect monetary compensation? That is rediculous man. You helped a friend out and saved him some money. That doesn't mean he 'owes' you. I'm sure he would do the same for you. If he wouldn't, well then you shouldn't be friends with him.

I mean he could have offered to take you out to lunch or buy you a drink or something but still, it sucks for people to have friends like you. You are the douche bag for demanding money and then going so far as to damage your friendship over it.

FYP

This is a favor where there is monetary gain for one party. If OP doesnt help this guy out he is out 114 bucks. The very least his friend can do is buy him lunch at a decent restaurant. More appropriately he should ship him 50 bucks on stars or something.

So winning someone 284 instead of letting them lose 114 doesnt warrant any compensation? Friend or not, it seems to me to be correct to share the results of an otherwise unatainable result. If that makes me a douchebag, Im not at all upset to be one. I think my friend's the douche for calling me and asking me to take over, and then refusing to give me a portion of what I won when there wasnt another opportunity for that result to occur.
