Default Steelers -3 vs Broncos next week. Why?

Can someone please explain why the Steelers are 3 point favorites next week @ home vs the Broncos? I know nothing about handicapping, but I was expecting something like Steelers +3.

It looks like the line is 2.5
The best I see on +3 is -125 @ VIP. -130(+) to move to +3 everywhere else.

I have no idea. The lines usually seem pretty much dead-on to me, and when they're not, I can usually convince myself of why the book is right and I am wrong.

But I honestly can't figure this out at all. I made a multi-unit play on the Denver ML, and I pretty much never make multi-unit plays.

That said, Denver will no doubt be this week's BSP special.

Who is the Steeler's QB? Batch may be a sacrifical lamb against the Denver defense that is being ridiculed in the local press here in Denver. The D should be fired up in a must win game to keep pace with San Diego that could also end the Steeler's hopes for this year. Then again, this could be the second step to mediocrity for Denver. The Steeler QB situation needs to be more defined in order to analyse this game.

Those are pretty much my thoughts (though I'm not betting on the game).

One is the desparation factor which I know some people think is overrated but I don't really agree. The other thing is Pittsburgh is just about impossible to run on, which sounds like a bad matchup for Denver but then again they seem to match up ok with the Chargers who are a similar type of team.

Wagerline Consensus Denver 277 Pittsburgh 104

at first glance the line does seem fishy.........but take into account Pitt is at home, the game is basically a must win, and denver D just got shredded. i know Pitt somehow managed to lose against Oaktown and cost me a grand, but they are the defending champs and i think they will win this game.

1. game in pitt (see KC/pitt box score)
2. denver offense sucks ( pitt gave up 100 yards total week 8)
3. must win for super bowl champs in a city with lots of pride

At this point, they are pretty much ALL " must win" for Pitt, but I just don't see them getting it done. I think their year is over.

the denver offense still sucks. pitt gave up 100 total yards last week and beat KC like 45-7 in last home game.

i could argue not betting on this game is the best move. but if i had to bet i'll go with Pitt
