Default Blinds vs Stacks - Opening Bet

This is my 1st time posting on SSNL - I mostly play live small to medium limit games but have been getting bored lately - so I wandered over to the 1-2 NL max buy in ($200 or $300) at the MGM in Las Vegas. Stack size range from $150 to $400.

I have AA and raise to $30 - I get 2 callers and a comment from a large stack (folds) - "You're never going to see any action playing 1-2 with that opening bet" Do I really care what the blinds are in this game with the higher max buy-in? Most people call the $2 to see the flop cheaply - why do I want to encourage a cheap look?

Most live games pre-flop raise is significantly higher than an online game. You should raise the standard (or perhaps slightly more) than what everyone else is raising. In a 1/2 that is usually 10 - 15. But again depends on the table.

Considering you did get 2 callers than $30 sounds right.
