Default Spotting the Pros

How do you go about spotting the professionals at your table? Is there any tip off? This is a serious question as I want to make sure I am not sitting down with a shark.

Are you kidding me?

What defines a pro player?

I know a lot of people who claim to be "pro" but are some of the most live ones in the game

What limits do you play?

Why do you care if there are pros in your game?

Because that's what I posted...I realize that they may be the live ones but I am just curious if you can tell if they play professionally without actually asking them.

you wont be able to tell in one session, but start goin every day and you will see other players who are there way more than they should be or more than you think would be possible given how bad they play...those are the "pros"...

edit: i like randy's answer better...

By "pro" do you mean a prop/shill/house player (someone who works for the casino to keep the game going), or do you mean someone that plays for a living or substantial income?

For shills, you can ask the dealer if there are any shills at the table, or ask aloud "are there any house players seated here". FWIW it makes you look like a nit.

If what you are really asking is "how do I tell who the really good players are".

1) They have a big stack.

2) Most of that stack came from YOU.

Not sure what state that is, but it isn't MS, NV, or CA.
