hey everyone!! Here's a hand I had trouble with. The villain here is a complete fish. I was 60-70% sure after seeing him play before that I was ahead on the turn and that he was on some type of draw.

Preflop and flop I like.

Turn is spew. The point of a double barrel is to pick up the pot (fold equity). Against a fish who isn't likely to fold and you think he is on a draw... no point in betting the turn - why bluff calling stations.

River is terrible, you think he is on a draw and the river completes the most obvious OESD (QJ). If he missed the diamond draw hes folding anyway.

hey thanks. I didn't know if the turn bet would be considered a valuebet against this guy, in addition to picking up the pot right there.

I would tend to check both the turn and river and sometimes even the flop here...
But hopefully ur king was good.

check the flop?! HU?! You have to be kidding. What kind of opponent are you checking the flop to HU?

Pre-Flop and flop is ok.

Check the turn. Just because he calls you flop bet doesn't mean he has to be on a draw even though the board is wet.

If he makes a 1/2 pot to pot sized bet here, fold.

If he checks behind and the river comes a king, bet $5 and fold to raise/shove.

I'm more likely to check the flop against a good opponent because they would likely put me on ak,aq here. So u make a good point. On the other hand you have missed the flop pretty badly so a cbet is not necessarily going to accomplish anything good for u.

ok, I guess the c-bets are different from limit huh? c-bets will win me the pot, so that is good for me. I like c-betting TAGs cause they know how to fold. I don't want to give a TAG a free card.

you really shouldn't bet the turn. This bet is designed to win the pot. DON'T BLUFF FISH! as someone already said, a very likely draw just got there(QJ). eeek bad push imo.

Holla on your 1st NL post.

I like the preflop and flop play. This is a relatively standard and solid continuation bet.

On the turn, however, I'm probably not going to bet this unless the player is relatively passive and you're likely to win the hand right there.

If it's checked behind on the turn I could fire a PSB ($10ish) at it on the river or check it down. AK isn't really something you want to play a particularly huge pot with if you don't really get there until the river. I also don't like going all-in w/ one pair when a straight and flush draw just got there.

My guess is that this guy is likely holding something like AhTh or QJ or something (maybe 8s?). Sweet.
