Default Blackjack count when to increase bets?

How high should a count be in blackjack before you start increasing your bet and how much more should you be betting?

it depends. which counting system you are using? a more appropriate question would be "how do I correlate my bet size with my advantage?" - a count of +2 in hilo is not the same as a count of +2 in KO, for example.

other big factors are how big your bankroll is and how much cover you need to stay under the radar. With an huge bankroll and no heat, you would bet very very high in high counts, but most of us have a fixed bankroll and can't get away with a 1-20 spread.

can you ask a more specific question?

I don't what it's called but the only count I know of is -1 for A-T, 9-7 neutral and +1 for 2-6. How many decks do casinos usually use?

this is hi/lo. the biggest problem with hi/lo in shoe games is that it is a balanced count (the count starts at 0 and ends at 0). this means that your advantage depends not only on the count, but how deep you are in a shoe. If the count is +2 and there are four decks left, the ratio of good to bad cards is 82:80; with only one deck left, it's 22:20. depending on the rules you probably don't even have an advantage with four decks but with one you almost certainly do. For hi/lo this means you need to convert the "running count" to a "true count" by dividing the running count by the # of decks remaining (in my previous example the TC becomes 2/4 = .5, and 2/1 = 2).

if you're new to this I would recommend an unbalanced count, which doesn't require any division at the tables. here is the simplest strategy I've ever seen, based on KO.

I agree that for someone starting out in shoe games, KO is the way to go. But get the book - "Knock-Out Blackjack - The Easiest Card Counting System Ever Devised" by Olaf Vancura and Ken Fuchs. Then check out the link that jonny drama posted.

Not to be overly picky, but even in an unbalanced count your advantage depends on how deep you are into the shoe. But you don't have to determine how to bet and play by dividing the running count by the number of decks left.

There is a 6 deck game in Atlantic City at the Borgata.

Dude, you know just enough to get yourself in trouble. Counting takes work. Get a book like KO and learn before you go play. If you are in AC it will be tough as the games pretty much suck at low limits.
