Default i bet 260; he says, \"make it 400\"

bellagio 10-20. hu at the river, i lead out for $260. villain says, "make it four hundred," and puts out a stack of orange $20 chips. he didn't say "raise," but clearly his intention was to raise. is it JUST a call? or MUST he now make it $520?

what if i had bet $280 and he said, "make it four hundred"? which is more important, his bet being greater (or less) than half a full raise, or his intent to raise?

i think his intent is more important and his action should be considered a min raise.

In a multiway pot I would rule both of these to be a rasie to $540. In a head up rule both of these as a raise to $400. A few month ago I started a thread about this subject, generally the rule that you must raise the size of the previous bet does not apply in heads up pots.

I thought your position was that it did not apply if the other player accepted the action.

Min raise would be required, I would think.

I think if you bet $400 and he says "make it $401" that should count as a minraise to $800. (I'm being serious)
