What are some tells you have picked up when playing in a live game.
I have seen a couple. I caught a player who would just say 'Raise.' But when he was bluff or semi-bluffing he would say, 'I raise.' Secondly, I noticed that some of the new players tend to use the smallish denomination chips when the don't have the nuts, but when the have the nuts, they'll use their larger denomination chips. I also read a while back about how a guy picked up that the better this villians hand was the further he placed the chips out on the able. Anyone else spot any other common or not so common tells? |

I once played in a game where 3/4 of the players had this tell: When I said "raise", they would reach for their chips to call. It meant they had any two cards.
Wait, did I say once? I meant over and over again. |

Villain (luckbox on huge heater, inexperienced, makes many mistakes and can barely read board) bets $60 on river into large $3/$5 NL pot, then proceeds to give me staredown. I call, he's got a missed draw.
Later in session, he does it again in similar situation. I insta-call with middle pair. He shows me the nuts. Sometimes newbies just stare because it's your action and they want to know if you are calling or not... |

they place out a bet, the stack falls, and then they pick up the chips as quickly as possible to reform their stacks = more often bluff. I stole it straight from Caro, but it has won me a few pots I had absolutely no business winning. Consequently, does anyone know of a new physical tell book out that is good?

I think the biggest tell, is if the player is staring you down = bluff. Also if same thing, if you notice he is staring you down as you are counting chips, bet anyway because hes trying to act strong.

People that have a beer sitting next to them are bluffing much more often than people that don't.

when some dude sitting next to you who is folding non-stop and telling you about how bad his cards are looks at his cards and lets out an audible sigh before making a small preflop raise he has AA or KK.
