Slowplay this AA?
Online MTT tourny...We are down to approx. eighty players. The top twenty-four get paid, but of course, only the top six or so make any significant money. The blinds are 150/300; in about four minutes, the next level with be the same blinds but with the addition of a 25 ante. The average stack across the entire field is approx. 7500.
The CO has 8000. The SB has 5500, whereas the BB has 3500. I am on the Button with 3000. These three players have been playing reasonably tight as we are moving towards the higher blinds. It should be noted that since my M had been hovering around 4-6 the only hands I've played in the past few orbits were hands in which I had moved all-in preflop in unraised pots. I had done this at least four or five times without ever being called. No one else at the table has been doing this as aggressively as I (even the short-stacks). Consequently, in this hand, the action is folded around to the CO, who openlimps for 300. I look down and see AA on the Button. |

Push and it's not close.

Re: Slowplay this AA?
meh anything other than limping or minraising is good. leaving yourself with a PSB on the flop isn't really bad, you'll often get some guy that is, um, not good, who calls off 30% of his stack because he's feeling lucky or whatever.
so i think i would often raise to like 1100 here and obv get it in on any flop to any action. edit: but pushing is obv fine and good here too because you should be getting called at least a little lightly because of the situation (i often try to pick up pots here with close to any two). |

Re: Slowplay this AA?
Push and hope someone finally decides to make a stand against you.

Re: Slowplay this AA?
Why would this situation be any different? Push in if any one calls, you are in good shape.

Re: Slowplay this AA?
Just push.
I would only consider limping behind with much deeper money and early position, hoping for someone else to raise. Even then, it is an unconventional play. |

Re: Slowplay this AA?
I'd push. Since you have 4-5 times over the past few orbits, stay consistent and hope to get looked up here. This is the fundamental reason for hand ranges - pushing with more than just a premium. If you push with marginal holdings and get tricky with a monster, an observant player will eventually catch on. Would you get tricky with KK/QQ/JJ/AKs? No, you'd push. Push here.

Re: Slowplay this AA?
With a limper in, push for sure. Calling just lets him get away cheaply on a missed flop. If you push he's gonna feel obligated to call with a lot of hands he could be limping with.

Yes. Always slowplay your Aces. Please. [/ QUOTE ]He didn't ask if he should always slowplay his aces. There are times to slowplay aces, this just isn't one of them. |
