Specific Mathematica Question for those who said they use/used it
How does one go about plotting a surface and a plane on one graph? e.g. i want to 3D plot a surface with two variables, and on the same graph i also want to plot a tangent plane that shares a specific point with the surface. any suggestions?

The easiest way is to plot each graph seperately, naming them and making sure that you use the same ranges for the x, y, and z. Then use the command Show[A,B] where A and B are the names of the graphs. You need to use the same ranges so that they line up right. If you can't get it to work, search for Show in help to see the exact syntax needed.
