Possible stop and go, but drawy board
$10 Rebuy on UB, top 5 win the seat, but still 18 left. Sorry for the lack of hand history, but I'll make this as painless as possible.
Blinds: 400/800/100 - 9 handed. Relavant Stacks: Hero (MP1) - 19,000 Villain (BB) - 9,000 Read on BB: Villain moved to table an orbit ago. Stole the blinds with a late position push once. Dealt to Hero: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Folds to Hero. Hero raises to 2200. Folds to BB. BB calls Flop (t5,700): 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB pushes for t6,800. Hero ??? |

Re: Possible stop and go, but drawy board
You may have to let this one go. I would make this call if I had seen villian do something like this before (you can often spot a lot of mediocre players overusing the stop and go), but here it is very expensive to see that you are up against 22-55, 99.
Consider what you are ahead of at this point: A9-AT, K9-KQ, maybe A2-A5. Not a lot of hands, and IMO villian could call your raise with a lot of junk. Any two diamond hands are a coin flip, and even hands like K9 are not too far behind. Muck this, mutter an obscenity to yourself, and make a note. It's too expensive, congratulate villian on a nice play. |

Re: Possible stop and go, but drawy board
If he has what he's supposed to have, which is a small pair you're not getting the right odds to call on the flop. Do you remember your pos?

Re: Possible stop and go, but drawy board
Not sure what pos is? I was in 5/18 if that's what you mean. By the way, what range do we assign? When I think about the range now, I think something like:
-Pairs, 22-55. I think 99+ re-raise preflop and 66-88 probably check/raise this flop. -Any 2 broadway diamonds, not including AQ or AK (maybe AJ) because they push preflop IMO. -Possible air (two big cards) saying, "I have a PSB left and he prob missed the flop." -Any junk hand with a 9,8,7,6, or 5 in it. Agree? Disagree? |

Re: Possible stop and go, but drawy board
Saying this might be a Stop and Go is naive and just an excuse to call. Even if it was a Stop and Go, this hit so many hands.
Just fold and move on to another hand man. It really isn't close. |

why do people still equate stop n go with small pairs [/ QUOTE ] because thats what most people do it with? Last time I did one, I did it with 97s. |
