Default call down or give it up? 99 in SB

Hey everyone, just started playing 6-max. Here's a hand I'd like your opinion on... villain was 42/6/2.

PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP raises</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls.

Flop: (7 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, MP calls.

Turn: (4.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP raises</font>, Hero calls.

River: (8.50 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP bets</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 10.50 BB

He's a 42/6/2? What does that mean?

I think you know that pf and flop are standard. What do you put him on, on the turn when he raises?

Yes you're definitely finished on the turn when he raises. Calling down = spewing.

That's an easy turn fold.

I don't even like you're preflop 3-bet considering MP only raises 6% of his hands preflop. 99 just does not hold up well against MP's range. It seems tight, but I think mucking 99 preflop is the play.

Well considering that OP probably only has 50-100 hands on villain, I think mucking preflop would be a bit crazy. I've seen guys that are 50/5/x over 100 hands all of the sudden raise KTs UTG. The preflop 3bet is standard, because AK or AQ is just as likely as a higher pocket pair here IMO.
