Tournament Tactic Question
You are in the BB and you get a JJ. The table has folded around to the sb who posts the min bet. How do you play it?

Re: Tournament Tactic Question
Oooops Sorry. Opening salvo (very first hand) for 2.20 buy-in PS NL Hold'em tourney. 9 players at table. I'm BB with JJ (HD).

Re: Tournament Tactic Question
It depends on my mood. Either check or raise 4x and, if he folds, show.

Re: Tournament Tactic Question
Gee, I was sure I posted this but it's not showing so...
1. I can't base a tactic on my mood. In my case that would be very dangerous. 2. I can agree I would never fold here. That's a start.... 3. I can now say that I doubt very much I will ever again raise here. I do believe I will check. I get the impression that players at this level think you ought to let the SB play for a min bet if he's kind enough not to jam. In this case i put up a 3X's bb bet and sb pushed all-in. I suspected he had nothing. I called. He showed 4-6 diamonds. The board favored him with 3 diamonds. Lesson learned. I check or jam. Since it's a tournament, it's the first hand and i want to win the darned thing, I check from now on. What do you think? Ali |

Re: Tournament Tactic Question
Go for it, if you want to be a results oriented losing player.
You got your money in with the best of it and (surprise) you lost and posted about it! What does this have to do with being a tournament tactic? It's just a bad beat post. |

Re: Tournament Tactic Question
I think you're wrong, and extremely results-oriented.
