Freelance writing
Anyone have any idea how to get involved in this? I have searched a few "write my essay" sites and couldn't find anything that seemed legit. I have always enjoyed writing and would love to find a way to make a little cash for doing it.

Investigate copywriting. Especially direct response.
If you can write some convincing samples, you can pick up freelance jobs pretty easily. The money ranges from pitiful to hundreds of dollars per page -- sometimes more, if you have skills and reputation to get a percentage of the revenue your work generates. There are a bunch of web sites and forums for copywriters. You'll find them once you start using Google. -------- Another angle would be to look at elance.com. People will post jobs there looking for writers to create ebooks and articles and the like.
