Default What if the AC\'ers on this forum were left on a deserted island?

What if Borodog, Shakezula06, pvn, Nielsio and hmkpoker were airlifted and left on a deserted island. They have enough food and clothing for several months but after that they are on their own. They each have one automatic weapon. There is one fresh water stream on the island. There is plenty of native plants and animals for food and shelter. What would the 'community' look like in a year from now? Would anyone be in charge? Any speculation?

This post doesn't break a specific rule, but I just think its retarded.

After some PM conversations, I changed my mind. There are several of you who are curious about this topic. Have fun.

I have a feeling it will resemble "tribal anarchy" or anarcho-socialism. Economics is very different with small populations, because they are less conducive to capitalism (few competitors lead to economies of scale, and lack of technology prohibits labor specialization), and highly conducive to socialism (reciprocal altruism mechanisms are more salient because you're reciprocating with fewer people).

If we have enough resources to make shelters for everyone, I imagine that we'd homestead private residences and leave the rest of the land socialized.

HM,

I was wondering what you think your first actions would be. Would you all go your own ways and stake out a spot to homestead? Would you stay together and try and have some sort of organization or leader? This is more along the lines of my question. You have strong-minded individualists in a situation that might require some collaboration and cooperation.

Eff that hmk your going to be the first person to go....

On a serious note I'd assume we'd work together because it's beneficial to do so. I don't have all the same skills as Borodog, pvn, hmkpoker and nielso and i benefit from their existance.

I'm not sure what ulterior motive you have, but I think it's more then "just curious".

I actually thought this would be the most interesting AC thread I've seen (I admit I tend to tune out now when I see an AC hijack in a thread).

And HMKs first response is interesting... that the economies of scale of a few people on a desert island doesn't really apply.

Perhaps a more apt scenario would be more like LOST crashing on an uninhabited Island Nation... A 747 full of ACists.. a large enough population to start a community from the getgo and with both sexes to reproduce and grow.

I actually thought the interesting part to see (if this happened in reality) would be people confronted with what they've been raised in (reality) trying to change to an ideal... but I wonder how much how living in this 'reality' would inhibit them from reaching their ideal?

Go out our separate ways? What are we, lunatics? We're going to work together because we want to live. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Small populations require different circumstances.

I almost deleted HMK's poll and replaced it with one that included him. Fortunately, I didn't and ShakeZula came up with a much better response. I guess this is the free market of ideas at work.
