Did I play this right?
Cryptologic
Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $1/$2 9 players Converter Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO raises, Button folds, SB calls, Hero calls (6:1), MP1 calls. I call the preflop raise with Axs, standard play for me Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (8SB, 4 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 checks, CO checks. I was planing a checkraise but the preflop raiser checked Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4BB, 4 players) SB checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls, CO calls, SB folds. Nobody shown any strength and I got a good hand so I bet River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (7BB, 3 players) Hero bets, MP1 raises, CO folds, Hero 3-bets, MP1 caps, Hero calls (14:1). The river card gives me a full house so I bet and get raised, since the guy havent shown any strength at all before and I got a full house I raise. But he reraises me again. Im getting really confused what he might have since he starts to raise so much on the river, but I call down since I have a full house and have put alot of money in the pot. Results: Final pot: 15BB MP1 shows 9h 9d Hero mucks As 2s How would you have played the hand? |

Re: Did I play this right?
Preflop: Standard
Flop: I like leading here. If CO has a big ace you are going to able to get your reraise in (or possibly wait for the turn) but if he has a hand like KQ or QJs then he probably will check and he might not even bet TT-KK. Turn: good River: awesome |

Re: Did I play this right?
No reads? Anyway this could easily be a 2, as long as MP1 doesn't limp 99/TT/AA pf you hold the nuts and I play it the same (if MP1 had a better hand he might have raised the turn since few ppl slowplay to the river esp. on such a board ...).

Re: Did I play this right?
i would had played it the same as you. i was thinking about not goin for a c/r on the flop but i thnk that was the best move.

Re: Did I play this right?
I like the idea of donking flop so we can 3-donk.

Re: Did I play this right?
not sure it's the most lucrative play.
i'd play it the same, waiting the turn for a c/r, depending on who called. if i have a read that CO is likely to have an ace (in the scenario where he continuation-bets), i donk the turn, hoping to 3-bet it. |

Re: Did I play this right?
well, then another argument for betting this flop is to not let it get checked through with the 2 diamonds.

Re: Did I play this right?
[ QUOTE ]
I like the idea of donking flop so we can 3-donk. [/ QUOTE ] I like the check-raise attempt. Villain is much much less likely to be holding AK/AQ/AJs since two aces are dead. This means we expect him to hold KK/QQ/JJ/TT/KQ/KJs more often: AK/AQ = 16 hands AJs = 2 hands KK/QQ/JJ/TT = 24 hands KQ = 16 hands KJs = 4 hands Therefore getting two bets in on the usual flop c-bet is better than trying to milk 3 bets when he has a hand (unless villain is aggressive and will cap AK/AQ/AJs). |

Re: Did I play this right?
Going for the flop check-raise was correct, IMO. I'll rely on Aaron's combinatoric analysis here (although I think the range is slightly too narrow, I'd have included ATs, 99, and maybe QJs as well).
Betting the turn is good. As for the river, I see no reason not to go to war with the nuts here. Don't be worried about villain's holding. |
