$27 Extracting value with sets

UTG calls t20, Hero calls t20, MP2 calls t20, 2 folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t100) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets t80, MP2 raises to t200, SB folds, BB folds, UTG folds, Hero raises to t1480

Too early to have any solid reads on MP2, but he seemed loose. Was my 3-bet all-in showing too much strength? I was hoping he'd think I was trying to scare him away with a flush draw by shoving, whereas if I raised smaller it'd give away the strength of my hand.

Lately I haven't been getting paid off well with my sets and it's messing up my thought process on playing these hands optimally. What's your usual plan after hitting a set on this flop and being raised? I'm thinking I should change my plan to either:

1) call the flop raise, check the turn, and shove against any bet.

2) call the flop raise, lead the turn, and shove against any raise.

I don't think my 3b-AI play was "bad", but I think in these situations I can usually extract more value by not playing it this fast.

I think you played it fine, in my humble opinion there are too many draws out there to try to get cute with your hand. On a board with less drawing potential I'd be inclined to call and extract more value but with the straight and flush possibilites I'd just get my chips in while I was still ahead. Heck at the $27s you'll probably find yourself getting paid off by lesser hands pretty often anyways.

i like option 2 on an uncoordinated board, but i lean towards it in this hand as well.

Assuming you called on the re-raise what would your plan of action be if the turn brought a scare card like a third heart, a king or an eight? Would you lead out and fold to a raise over the top?

I just make my bet sizes a little smaller. T60 on flop, t400 3-bet, shoving the turn.

make it 500. shove any non paired turn. if board pairs, just figure out what way to get the money in bewteen the turn and river.

I'd rather make it ~500 then AI on the flop 3-bet. Too many people are fearing a draw imo. Most of his hands are drawing super thin.
