Default 2/4 QQ Hand-Never given the chance to fold

I think I played this hand correctly but it still felt like I was throwing money away on the river.

On the flop, I called to evaluate on the turn. Once the K came, I planned on check folding but he checked behind. On the river, I figured I had to call getting 5:1.

Villian is an okay player, I haven't seen him get out of line too much. However, he is a typical live NL player that doesn't think about pot size, stack sizes, etc.

Live NL $2/4 blinds, effective stacks $300.

Hero raises Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG to $14.

One MP caller, Villian call is CO. Blinds fold.

Flop (~$45): 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I lead for $40, MP folds, Villian raises to $80, I call.

Turn (~$205): K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Board:7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I check, villian checks.

River($210): 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Board:7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check, villian bets $50, I call.

Standard?

Looks fine to me. You only have to be ahead one in ~6 times on the river, and I think it's pretty certain you are.

Oh, and I'd probably have made it $35 on the flop because I don't particularly want to swell the pot OOP.

Seems fine, even though I prefer a 3-bet all-in on the flop with these stacks.

I 3-bet the flop. Looks like he could be going for a cheap draw/free card on that flop. Does he really have 58/53? He could have a set, but he could also have TT.

I think you're often ahead here. By the river, I think you're behind, but that's a small price to pay to see what he's minraising with.

I planned on pushing a safe turn card but didn't get it.

I'm all for pushing safe turn cards when the situation warrants it, but why in this spot? You are likely ahead on flop and there are a ton of cards that kill your action on the turn. Don't we want a call from 88-JJ/combo draws/maybe even weaker hands because this is live? Push flop.
