busted out my bankroll help me out?
i started out with $700 playing 2/4 at hawaiian gardens here in southern california, for some reason over this weekend the tables tightened up and dried up completely, slowly the rake took all my money as i'mnot really better than any of the regular players. i played several 15 -20 hour sessions, lost like $150 average a day or actually night, ive also noticed that the action is much better during the first week of the month. or after midnight on fridays and weekends
im thinking i will only go back to casinos during the first week of the month and maybe wknds play some 1/2 to brush up on my skills any suggestions? |

Re: busted out my bankroll help me out?
1) Read applicable poker books and ensure you have the ACTUAL ability to beat the game in the long run
2) Don't play with scared money or money that you can't afford to lose 3) Don't play games that are unbeatable due to how they are raked if possible 4) Play times when the games are best - have fun and work to get better 5) Good luck Jeff |

I don't think that 2/4 is beatable for more than .5-1bb/hour, not to mention the variance. I would reccomend picking up a book on small stakes hold-em (Jones or Sklansky), mastering the concepts and returning to a higher stakes game (at least 3-6 or 4-8).

What Jeff said.
But more to the point, don't play unless you know you have an edge. (If you were more experienced, you could play if you thought you had an edge but weren't sure, because technically a well-founded suspicion that you have an edge is in fact an edge.) |

Another thing to consider: if you do not have an edge in the games you play then you do not have a bankroll. You have a budget.

Re: busted out my bankroll help me out?
Losing $750 in 2/4 means nothing as I'm sure will be pointed out.
However - and don't take this the wrong way - if you really believe that you're not better than the regulars playing 2/4 at Hawaiian Gardens, you should take some time to brush up your skills before trying to play again. I'd say that I'm probably only in the 25 percentile of people on here if I'm lucky, but I feel pretty confident that I can beat 2/4 at HG! |

The limit game at HG is as soft as you'll ever find.
I can beat the limit game at HG and limit is my worst game by a longshot. Buy SSHE and HEFAP, read them, and try again. |

3) Don't play games that are unbeatable due to how they are raked if possible [/ QUOTE ] This strikes close to home. I am an online player but am looking to try B&M for variety and fun. I'm in LA visiting family and went over to Hollywood Park to play some 2/4. After reading the rake structure I realized that I'd have to play tremendously well to beat the game. Online at .25/.50 and .50/1.00 limit holdem I can clear about 4BB/100 hands, but with the dramatically higher rake I'd be running in the red even if I was playing well. Disappointed, I left without sitting down. -Chry |

Re: busted out my bankroll help me out?
These low limits at casinos are really hard to beat even if yuo are better than most of the regulars because the rake is soo high. I would sugest you play low limits online. Build up the bankroll to about 2k and then play 4/8 or 6/12 at the casino. No limit is a much better game to play low at casinos.
