Default Help from Detroit folks

I will be hitting the Motor City for the first time since I was around 8 years old this weekend to catch Game 1 of the Series. However, I will probably be making a gamblin' run Friday night or Saturday morning, and possibly both. Two easy questions:

1) Where should I go and why? All the casinos are within a few miles of each other, correct? I am primarily a play-for-fun kinda guy, and I'm not that great, so I'll probably stick around 3/6 or 4/8 limit if available.

2) I'm going with co-workers who I have no desire to hang out with, and I don't know anyone in the city at all. Anyone going to be there this weekend and might be interested in a donk-and-drink fest?

Motor City is the nicer room.

Greektown is $1 lower rake.

Swax, if you search Motor city you will find some good reviews for the local casinos. i prefer Motor City because its on a non smoking floor, easy on-easy off the freeway exit. they spread 3-6,,5/10..10-20 all limit,,a 1/2 game that is 50min/200 max buy in.and a 5/10 unlimited buy in..what we call the big boys game.(usually atleast $6k in front of everyone. theh 3-6 game is big time weak and nitty. you should have no problem beating that game. there is a running bad beat jackpot..aces full/tens or better beaten by 4 of a kind with both persons hole cards have to play. i have come close quite a few times but not yet. Greektown is in heart of downtown, little harder to get in and out and from what i here its all mainly 1/2 no limit games. both have morning tourneys and a couple of multi-table tourney, you would have to call to find out times. and at MCC..definetley call ahead and put your name on the list. they will hold it for 1 hour. 1-877-777-0711,,ask for the poker room. when you get there. the main floor is 2nd. walk all the way to the back of the casino, past dice games to the escalaters by the bar/band stage. take up trun left and its right there. good luck....i will be down there tonight

Wow $7 a pot - that makes LA rake look good.

Thanks for the info guys - so no one's gonna be kickin' it this weekend? Also, are there any good bars/pubs near these places? I wouldn't mind a place that's fairly friendly (i.e. can roll in solo and strike up a conversation) and will let you shoot a game of pool or toss some darts or something.

Fishbones is attached to Greektown. It's good, reasonably priced, and the indoor waterfall, or whatever they call it, is kinda nifty.

edit to add: back on the rake thing, even though greektown is bad, If you must play somewhere in detroit, please don't support motorcity's ridiculous rake. I used to live in toledo, but only played in detroit once because I hoped sanity would prevail and the rake would come down some.
