Re: 100NL AK - Tough spot
This is read dependant. Against some opponents I call down, against others, I fold to the raise.

Re: 100NL AK - Tough spot
Hmm.. you dont think it's worth calling the raise to see what he does on the river? or is it given he's going to push so no point calling unless im willing to call ai on river? I think its possible he checks behind AK and just gives up with something like QJh ..

Yeah right, call a big turn raise and hope he won't bet again on river. What were you thinking? Do you think your hand is better than his? If yes, then reraise on turn to suck him in. If you have no idea, then fold. |

Re: 100NL AK - Tough spot
It seems reasonable all the way through. I may opt for a slightly higher turn bet, around $13-14. This will get the same lower pairs to call but prevents him from raising with a weaker hand since it looks like you're putting in a blocking bet. When he pushes the river, the only hand you have value against is AK which chops. Nice fold.

[/ QUOTE ] Getting 3:1 on a scare card after he's made a weak turn bet, I don't think calling this raise is so bad (but it is why I suggested making a bigger turn bet, which may be easier to fold to when the raise is larger and he's more likely to be pot committed). I think we're good at least 25% of the time when you consider our chances of improving, him checking behind a worse river, or giving up on a bluff. |
