This begs the question: what do we WANT out of a ratings system? Do we want who would be favored over every other (or the most other) teams on a neutral field? The best performance/resume? Some combination thereof?

This depends on weather you're looking for a system that best predicts what team will win in a given matchup, or a system that best ranks teams according the results of the games they have played.

If the former, then I think the Sarigin predictor is well respected for that purpose. If the later, then I think the BCS is pretty good.

However, I voted for another computer.
