The Wrestling Thread
I don't know if this has been done before but I'll give it a go. I am always entertained by the few wrestling threads we get on here and have noticed quite a few OOTers are wrestling fans.
So the question I have is what was the first thing that got you into wrestling? My earliest memory is Flair Vs Funk at the Clash of Champions in 1989. This is the first time I had ever seen someone use a table in a match even though it was thick and didn't break. Hope this inspires further comments. Peace, Justin "Wrestling isn't fake, it's just rigged." |

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Earliest memory is for no reason watching IRS on a Saturday Morning event, and then like 2 years later actually becoming a fan.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I'm older than most on this board (35). So my first memory of wrestling is from 1978, Bob Backlund as the WWWF champ. After I got sick of him as champ, I discovered Georgia Championship Wrestling and the NWA, eventually replaced by Mid-Atlantic Wrestling.
As I got older, my interest waned (by 1987-88 or so). Then I got a job with a person who was a huge wrestling fan. So my interest came again (around 92-93) and the interest continued though the wrestling boom. I eventually discovered the Internet Wrestling Community, became a "smart" and started following Japanese wrestling. Eventually, again, my interest waned. The day they gave HHH the championship on Smackdown (or Raw, I forget) without having to wrestle a match was the last episode of wrestling I've seen. That was 2-3 years ago. |

EDIT: Actually, after reading that, I guess you could be just a smart. Didn't know that was a term in itself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smark |

Re: The Wrestling Thread
i remember being a kid and watching wrestling at like 1 in the morning the night that tony atlas and rocky johnson lost the tag team titles to adrian addonis and dick murdock. i had no idea who adonis and murdock were at the time. I also remember Sgt slaughter whipping bob backlund with a whip i guess, and seeing the welts on backlund's back. And yes i remember the day hulk hogan showed up
