UK betting is banning germans

yesterday i wasnt able to log into my account at UK betting. today all of my money hit my neteller account and i couldnt log into my account at UKB. my account was closed.
so i wrote them an email.
here is the answer:

I know that us closing your account seems very confusing however, I assure
you that there is a valid reason why we have taken this action. Please allow
me to explain:

At the moment due to uncertainty around current legislation regarding gaming
and betting within Germany, we are treading on the side of caution and thus
are regretfully not accepting any customers from Germany.

However, if in the future anything changes, we will contact you and advise
you further.

Thank you for your understanding and please accept our apologies for any
inconvenience caused.

Old, old news. Ladbrokes haven't allowed Germans for months either.

There was a short article about it, that Germany tries to protect their gambling (lottery) monopole. So they consider tightening the laws (whatever this means here) However, the EU didnt like what happend in the past like the arrest of Bwin-execs(OnGame-Network) in France, and all this protection-thinking going on. What might happen is that the EU will press for a regulated open gambling sector withing the EU which actually is good news.

and btw online gambling has always been illegal in germany except for the state owned monopolies and some companies with doubtful licences fom DDR times.

on the other hand the federal states of germany want to agree on kind of enforcement act this friday to also boot these DDR licence holders and to also block foreign online gambling providers.

but many hope, that the EU will topple such national laws as they might infringe the freedom of services EU law.

there are already EU law suits undergoing against many EU countries because of this.
the possible outcome is very unclear, though.
