Internet on the bus

I did a google search but didn't turn up much...

I have heard of people having internet in their cars, etc... How does this work exactly? As I understand it, it needs to go through your cell phone. Is this correct? Is there another way?

I'm asking because I am thinking of starting a charter bus company and would be interested in giving my customers/passengers access to the internet. But I don't even know if this is really possible... Any help would be appreciated. Also, I am in Canada (if it matters).
