Will a Radeon X300 series graphics card support it (the monitor is 2500x1600 max resolution) or am I going to have to upgrade?
...I'm pretty sure I know the answer just wanted to make sure. |

No.
I'm considering getting this card to use with my ordered 3007 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102459 |

It has to be a dual link DVI card to use the full resolution, so the last card you linked will be fine.

Is there any reason not to buy a cheaper dual DVI card for ~$100?

I bought the z1800xt and it has been working very well.
I believe the x1600xt works as well but it uses a lot more memory to make up for some lacking in the video card which could slow down things in the long run. |
