Default Looking for a Work-From-Home Statistician ~ 40-65k/yr

Hi,

I need someone to help with my business, as recently I've been getting a little too much for me and my wife to handle.

Let me explain a little of what I'm looking for. I've posted on Kasamba and whatnot, but none of the responders write well enough in English to do this work. Also, this is really PERFECT for a poker-pro type of guy... i.e:

-WORK AT HOME IN YOUR PJs AT THE COMPUTER, on your own hours
-but no swings, bad beats, and drawouts... you get paid every week regardless.

Here's some details. Email me via my website www.MinimaxConsulting.com if you're interested.

Disclaimer: DO NOT bother writing if

1. You don't have one of the software packages listed in the body below (at the very least have alot experience with them, and then I could buy it for you later if you could complete a sample project with the 14day free trial version and prove that you're able to do the work) OR

2. If you can't do ALL of the methodologies listed below VERY WELL... many of the people who responded to posts on Kasamba couldn't do all of these things, and just wasted everyone's time...

Details (taken from email I've sent to some candidates who stink):

I receive ALOT of business from contacts I've made up
over the years at local Universities - MIT, Harvard,
Brown, BC, BU, UConn, etc... and am becoming too busy
to handle it all. I need another research assistant.
(I already have one).

You would receive approximately 4 assignments per
week, some small and some larger. The smaller
assignments are usually something like the third
chapter (methods section) of a dissertation, or
a small data analysis and summary writeup. The larger
assignments are usually the fourth chapter (results
section) of a dissertation, along with the
corresponding data analysis.

I would pay $100 for small assignments (should take a
couple of hours to do), and $300 for larger
assignments (my current assistant does these in one
full day). Assuming 2 large and 2 small, you would
make $800/week at first, doing about 3 days worth of
work (2 smalls could be done together in one day, if
you chose to do it that way).

If you did well, I could theoretically expand the
workload to ~7 assignments per week in a few months
time (that would mean you'd be making about $1300/week
if you did 3 'big' and 4 'little' each week), or I
could keep the workload smaller... your choice. Of
course, I'd I need to keep this 'more work' option
open for several months to see if you can handle the
regular workload first... but the possibility of more
work/money is at least out there.

If you'd like, I'd send you a sample of a ch3 and a
ch4, so you can get a feel for the types of work we
do.... but they're pretty standard.

The arrangement would work as follows: on weekends, I
would send you the assignments for the next week via
email... all data, research questions, etc that you
need to complete the assignment will be in the email.
You need to review each of the assignments over that
weekend, to be sure you understand everything and have
all the info you need. If yes, you need to
complete them by the due date I've given you (some are
Tuesday, some Friday, etc...) for each project.

Once you are done, you send them to me and I'll make
some adjustments as needed. I will return it to you
within 12 hours or so with corrections that I may need
you to make. You then return the corrected paper to me
by the next day. At this point, I send it off to our
client. Within 2-3 days, they return to us with
feedback on what they need modified, etc and/or any
questions that they have. I send these
questions/comments to you, you make the needed changes
and answer the questions in a separate document, and
return them to me within a day or so. At this point,
I send these off to our client, and the project is
done.

We can work out payment as you'd most prefer - I pay
my current assistant bi-weekly via a regular check...
but I'd be willing to send you a Paypal, bank wire,
etc... whatever works best for you. I'm pretty
flexible with stuff like that.

I would require your picture and a brief resume/bio
for our webpage. This is a requirement. You will be
listed as one of my research assistants (along with Li
Wang), and since I don't outsource work, this is
mandatory. While my webpage is still (unfortunately)
rather unprofitable on its own, I do send all of my
locally-found clientele to that page as a virtual
'business card' for the firm. I need to be upfront
and open about anyone working on projects with me.

You will need to be proficient in the following, as we
use them often:

factor analysis
logistic regression
multivariate regression
ANOVA, MANOVA, MANCOVA, etc
t-test, chi-square, crosstabs

You need to return to me ALL the output and syntax
files in SPSS or SAS for each assignment. If you
don't have one of these programs, let me know.

Finally, you need to write VERY WELL, as there is ALOT
of writing in these dissertation chapters. About 20%
of the work will not be for dissertations, but rather
for businesses,etc... and this should involve less
writing. But your ability to write in English must be
very solid.

After all of this, if you're still interested in this
position, here is the process...

I am evaluating several responses from ads I placed
over the weekend looking for a new assistant, and I
will only pick one. All candidates still interested
after reading this email will be asked to complete a
sample assignment for me. It is a sample "large" assigment, which consists of a data analysis of a reasonably complex data set, and the creation of the 4th chapter of a dissertation. I will provide you with an example of 2 other chapter 4's to look at, so you can have an idea for what I expect. Since I am not comfortable asking for anyone to work for free, **ANYONE HANDING IN AN ADEQUATELY COMPLETED SAMPLE WILL BE PAID FOR DOING SO** - the same rate as if you were hired... $300.

This is NOT an assignment I will be giving to a
client, but rather is an assignment my current
assistant has already completed. I will send you a
copy of her completed version once you have submitted
yours, so that you can see what it is that we expect.

Drop me an email if you're interested (don't PM, I'm often too lazy to log in and just lurk ).

i meet about 2/3 of your qualifications or so and i wouldn't be willing to offer my limited expertise up for this much. from what i gather from the job description, there is almost no way someone who is 100% qualified would ever take this job. its sooo not worth the pay.

if they ever did take the job, then they are almost necessarily bad at math, decision analysis, life because they should be able to do a lot better

I thought the same too but it doesn't sound like it's anywhere near full time work.

BTW - read OPs bio on his site - very impressive.

Not to mention you would have to put your name and photograph up on his web page and admit to the world that you are making money by writing dissertations for dishonest students.

Thanks to all the people who wrote me from 2p2 about this job. 5 REALLY good leads came from this post, and almost surely I'll hire at least 1 if not 2 of the applicants. I'm not taking any more applicants now, since I already have more than enough qualified people to weed through.

Thanks again to the 2p2 community!
