Dealing with a straight while big blind and big stack
Hi. I'm new to this forum, and online poker, and this is my first post, so hopefully this is an interesting situation.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (9 handed) Hero (t5980) UTG (t2060) UTG+1 (t2580) MP1 (t3200) MP2 (t3300) MP3 (t3015) CO (t1565) Button (t1990) SB (t3910) Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 calls t150, 1 fold, MP3 calls t150, 2 folds, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: (t600) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB bets t150, Hero calls t150, MP1 raises to t300, MP3 folds, SB calls t150, Hero calls t150. Turn: (t1500) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, What should I do here? |

Re: Dealing with a straight while big blind and big stack
Welcome to the forum buddy.
If you are pretty sure MP1 will bet, you could go for a check-raise to get more money in the pot. But you will rarely be very sure, so I'll reccomend just betting about 8-900 here. |

Re: Dealing with a straight while big blind and big stack
Well yea you should have folded on the flop. But now, bet 900. You have the 2nd nuts, get it all in if theres a raise.

Check-raise, give sb a chance to call MP's almost inevitable bet.
Steve P.S. siwicki, what's a c-raise? |

P.S. siwicki, what's a c-raise? [/ QUOTE ] Check raise? Thats not a bad idea. But it seems with this many players there could be some value in leading out and re-raising after you are raised. |

Re: Dealing with a straight while big blind and big stack
fold the flop
as played bet 600 on the turn (normally I hate bets this small but your poor play on the flop put you in this spot.) Push against any raise. |

Re: Dealing with a straight while big blind and big stack
Thanks guys for the input. I guess I didn't see that I should of folded at the flop. Thought that it was worth it to pay the BB to see the next card with my straight draw.
I ended up losing to MP1 since he had the nuts (QA), and I ended up betting heavily, which I suppose was my 2nd big mistake: Turn: (t1500) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets t1000, MP1 calls t1000, SB folds. River: (t3500) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets t1750, MP1 calls t1750 (All-In). |

I ended up losing to MP1 since he had the nuts (QA), [/ QUOTE ] WTF. So MP1 minraises on a gutshot. Write that down. [ QUOTE ] and I ended up betting heavily, which I suppose was my 2nd big mistake: [/ QUOTE ] no, that wasn't a mistake at all. You got all your money in with the second nuts. MP1's holding you shouldn't really worry about at all given the action. |
