Would you stay at the El cortez
I was looking for the cheapest place to stay in vegas and this seemed to have the lowest prices, after the western. Apparently the western's not somewhere you should think about staying and I heard similar things about El cortez, even though it's not as far out. Just wondered if these places are actually that bad.

Re: Would you stay at the El cortez
I had a friend in town stay at the El Cortez. He doesn't gamble so the gambling was notr a concern to him.
The room was reasonably sized, it was clean, no actual complaints about the room.o if you are just lloking for a room it is fine. But, I am hesitant to walk around the neighborhood late at night, and the people you may meet in the casino are not necessarily the people you want to hang around with. Not necessarily dangerous, but lets say its a different clientele than say the Bellagio. |

But serioulsy, don't stay in that area. Especially at the motels on Fremont going east. Those aren't cars backfiring that you hear... Re: Would you stay at the El cortez
Went twice . its clean , nothing gross like moisture of insect or whatever. In 5 minutes of walk U reach the binions & the golden nugget. Too U can take the bus to get to teh strip, will cost U 2$ , but expect to wait less than 5 minutes for teh bus, but it might take U up to 30 minutes to reach the Bellagio at the traffic'hour.
In this casino , U'll feel like to be in the forties, but at 22$ a night U cant expect more. I don't recommand the restaurant in it. |

A friend once told me, "If you ever find yourself staying at the El Cortez, then you need to seriously reevaluate your life."

Re: Would you stay at the El cortez
Heh so far 2 responses contained the name bellagio....
The OP want's advice on a cheap clean room. The El Cortez will provide this. The truth is it's not as scary as these people would lead you to believe. Use common sense huh ? Now OP if you are going to take their advice fine don't want you to be scared or anything. Here is something else to consider.... The El Cortez does not offer their jacuzzi suites anymore they are only given away by pit bosses or managers for VIP's now at the El Cortez hitting a half hour run at the craps table betting 5$'s might make you a VIP. woo woo Free Jazzuzi Suite Second thing to consider stop using expedia and Travelocity I would just consider it because all the hotels are not included ( I know you save if you book flight and hotel) But consider the Las Vegas Club rooms average 37 dollars a night It's in a "safer location for the people who are afraid of the world" and I happen to like their coffee shop upstairs. BIG BURGERS HEH but you have to book online with them or call them "I think" The El Cortez has the best stud game in town many of my past posts describe how juicy this game can be. (wink wink) I don't stay anywhere but downtown I like the action, gambling, and party atmosphere much more than the strip. Let me rephrase that "most of the strip". Now one last comment to the "BELLAGIO BOYS" I find it SOOOOOOOOO amazing that in a post where someone is asking for advice on the cheapest room possible it get's compared to the bellagio or someone says go to the bellagio. If the person does not want to pay 40 bucks a night for a room do you think he's sitting down at the tables with the rich boys. (table games) Obviously the poker room does not apply because he can find low limit games there. Just not as profitable as the 1-3 stud at the cortez |

[/ QUOTE ] If you are looking for a cheap place to stay, I recommend the Gold Coast. I paid around $45 per night during the week. That is obviously more than what the El Cortez charges, but the Gold Coast is close to the strip, has a free shuttle, and is much nicer than the El Cortez. As someone already suggested, use cheapovegas.com to compare the low-priced places. I stayed at the Hell Cortez once. I'm a cheap bastard, and let me tell you that the place STUNK. The casino, the people, and especially my room REEKED of smoke, booze, and every bodily function imaginable. I'm far from being a high class person, but the smell made me gag. I found the place to be plain nasty. The neighborhood is pretty run down, too. I would not recommend the El Cortez. |

I would not recommend the El Cortez. [/ QUOTE ] Saw the review on Cheapo Vegas. They are way off. That area is scary enough in the daytime. At night well, have you ever seen the movie Escape from New York? |
