Default Vegas Forum

I PM'd diebitter about putting a Vegas sticky in the Travel forum, but he said that the forum was going to disappear in a few days anyway. DB suggested I PM Mat, so I did.

Mat said, "If you present your idea to the forum members and get support, we'll create it."

Other than poker, Las Vegas seems to be the one common interest of everyone on these boards. There is a fairly constant stream of advice-seeking threads regarding restaurants, hotel/casinos, flights, sights, and pretty much everything else Vegas related.

I think a forum where all Vegas-related questions/threads could go would be a popular addition. Perhaps a sticky (ala the restaurant sticky in B&M) could provide the basic information at the top, and posters could seek/give advice in various threads.

Anybody agree?

What about Atlantic City? Or Tunica? Or San Fran? Or LA? They're poker playing meccas too.

I think we can both agree that Las Vegas is very different from all of those cities, for a variety of reasons. Many people are interested in Las Vegas for more reasons than poker.

Why is this not already covered in B&M?... it would seem that a vegas FAQ sticky there with links to relevant threads would be appropriate.

A well thought out post in TLDR on Vegas, would be another alternative.

Travel & Leisure in the playground didn't really get much interest... so its unlikely that a forum devoted to just Vegas would be successful.

fwiw, I'm usually in favor of opening new forums... but I don't think this topic is broad enough to warrant its own forum, and is already covered in B&M.

Convince me...

I agree. I first mentioned to DB about a sticky in the Travel forum, but he said that the Travel forum won't be around much longer. I think a sticky in one of the forums you mentioned would be good.

I like the idea of a Vegas-specific forum.

It could have Q's on game-quality and different rooms (always being asked in B&M it seems) as well as the stuff about where to stay, moving there, clubs, restaurants, etc.

Some of that is very OOT-ish too of course.
But I agree that a lot of people enjoy talking specifically about Vegas and I think it's own forum to tie in all this stuff into one place would be a decent idea.

When I used to play blackjack I was on BJ21.com which is kind of the 2+2 for blackjack card-counters.

They didn't have just one B&M forum.
They had several:
West (California and Reno mostly)
Vegas
South (Tunica, Biloxi)
Midwest
Northeast

In each of the different geographic forums you could ask about game quality at specific casinos, nightlife, whatever.

I had never been to Vegas but enjoyed reading the Vegas forum on BJ21.
Having all the midwest casino talk confined to just one forum seemed to work really well imo.

The problem with that whole idea for 2+2 is that B&M isn't exactly over-crowded and there really isn't much need to break it up into several little pieces like that.

So just starting a Vegas forum seems a good way to go imo.

I dunno. It seems that without Vegas, B&M would be a hollow shell of its current self. A Vegas forum might make it a little easier to find stuff, but it's not going to generate that much more traffic on the subject than B&M is currently.

what if we just change the description of B&M to make it clear to people it covers the whole "city scene"?

That would be better. Most Vegas stuff gets handled in B&M anyway.

Maybe changing name to B&M Casinos, instead of B&M Cardrooms.
