I like the ability to buy bonuses BUT bonuses are too expensive when compared to what FPP's are normally worth.

Re: PokerStars VIP Changes!! - New items - Cash bonuses
Are the US amazon gift certificates still available (I saw they were still orderable last night)? Seems silly to take $285 for 28,000 points versus $500 for 31,000 points if so.

Re: PokerStars VIP Changes!! - New items - Cash bonuses
I think the point is you can always continue to use the fpp store as before and continue to get the old rate. Even though they are offering cash there's obviously been decision to add a certain disincentive towards going down that route. That being said the Supernova bonus is not too far shy of the 186,000 = $3,000 calculation, although you do have to earn 10,000 odd additional fpps to release it.

Re: PokerStars VIP Changes!! - New items - Cash bonuses
if they were going to do this then I think it would be kind of predictable that the rate would bw a bit lower for cash.
Lots of 2+2'ers mentioned that they would prefer direct cash even if it meant a slightly lower rate. FPP's for merchandise are usually around the $0.016/FPP range. Supernovas get cash at $0.015/FPP so not too much of a loss. Platinum ar $0.013/FPP and Gold at $0.0114/FPP aren't so hot though. Also - it looks like you can exchange as many FPP's for cash as you like (until Dec 31). Not just limited to your first 100k FPP's I don't think. Also noticed this on their supernova page: "PokerStars plans to release extra benefits for Supernova players who reach the 200,000, 300,000, 400,000, 500,000 and 750,000 Frequent Player point milestones. Please look for these added benefits to be available in 2007." I'm guessing they actually mean VPP milestones, not FPP milestones. Supernovas need to get to 100k VPP's and by doing so they are already going to have well over 200k FPP's anyway. |
