I flop top pair, with a king kicker. I made a decide bet, and the Villain raised.
The pot now has t2050 in it, it cost me t615 to call. Should I call? Yeah, call, you are getting good odds.
He is pushing with worse queens, flush draws, and maybe a straight draw (JT), all of which you are ahead of or 50-50 with. Given the pot and your almost 3.5:1 odds, I think this is an easy call. |

With no more money going into the pot I would call this. Villain could have a FD or even a straight draw and those are pretty good pot odds.

[Censored] I hate this position. (And to quote Woodguy, "Dats a position raise!")
Actually, have a look at the villain's stack - that's a push and an easy call, I think. If the stacks were deeper, I have a question for the "Call" folks. What's your line when the turn comes the proverbial two of purple horseshoes? Or (even worse) spades? |

getting better than 3:1 definitely call, he can have the nut FD, a straight+flush draw, even QJ or also KQ. 99, 44, and AQ are also possible but considering all his hands it is an easy call.

As Sam pointed out, I was in a bad position. I think in hindsight I should not have played KQo in UTG+1.
As it turns out, he had trip 9s. I tried replaying this hand in my head, and I do not know how I could have gotten away from it all. If I checked the flop, maybe I could have controlled the pot a little more.. but I doubt it. Thanks for the input. |

no, you can't control the pot here, be happy to get in with a strong hand vs. a short stack

[ QUOTE ]
I should not have played KQo in UTG+1. [/ QUOTE ] Bingo. Having said that though, if you do decide to play, you have to be willing to get it in w/ top pair against a shorty on a drawish board. |
