Default Mark Warner will not run in 2008.

Sources say former Va. governor won't run for president in '08

--^---^---^---^---^---^---^---^---

So the question is why?

Does he think the 800 pound gorilla can't be beat?
Retraction: Hillary does not weigh 800 pounds.

Does he have a skeleton in the closet?

Does he think the GOP is unbeatable?

Why would he make this announcement less than a month before the midterms? Something is fishy here.

Actually though the real question is why would anyone of either party want to run for the White House. It's long odds for most politicians no matter who their opponents are in their own and the opposition party, entails spending 2-3 years on the campaign trail, and insures that every action and spoken word from the past will be discovered and minutely scrutinized. But of course I guess many who run of both parties think that they are some kind of saviour or something.

tom,

That's only a possibility for those who weren't already millionaires prior to taking office. Which in the past 30 years would be the Clintons. Of course they are rich now though apparently, so maybe Hillary won't feel so compelled to run, although perhaps she does view herself as a saviour.

Crap. More of the same I guess. I probably will still vote republican (or 3rd party), but Warner was the one guy I thought could honestly win my vote.

I think something must have happened. Either he was promised the VP spot by hillary or something else, i cant see why he would decide this now.

It also kills my dream Warner/Obama ticket.
