If I had to wager a guess, I'd say this is because so many VIP players have already cashed out of Party Poker, and this way they'll get them to play some more before the bill is signed.

It makes sense for them, but also happens to work out well for everyone else. Thank you, Party.

I got the same email. $47 sitting in my account now. I will use it to try and win a satellite into Sunday's tourney. Other than that, I'm done with Party. I was quite surprised to find 57,000+ people online just now. Guess the ban hasn't hurt them yet. I got fed up with Party's atrocious customer support and vowed to drop them altogether. Since then, I started playing at WPEX and am thoroughly enjoying the rakeback deal. Since I play 10/20 limit, it's perfect for me...

This move will save Party a lot of transaction costs by reducing the number of double cashouts where players withdraw their main balance by Friday and take the bonus out on Saturday.

It also gives the bonus money a chance to play and get raked before the end arrives. Not everyone is a winning player with a "roll" and no shortage of working capital. Many gamblers play for entertainment and deposit only what they are willing to lose. Put "free" money in their account and they will play it.

Also, Party gets to keep every single bonus under $50 given to a player who already emptied their account, unless they run it up in time. I wonder how many people were cut off just shy of $50 because they awarded the bonus 3 days early.

I'm thinking they were inspired by the thread where players bemoaned the loss of the change in their account when they cashed out b/c of the monster.
