Villain and I both have around 800. Early in session, so read as yet nebulous.
Button makes it 50 to go, I call with jacks in the BB. Flop all red, 5/5/2. I check, he bets 80, I make it 200. He deliberates, then calls. Turn blank, I lead out for 250, he mucks. Barring a re-raise prelfop, is this somewhat standard? Horrid? I figured I'd hear from a pair higher than jacks after my flop raise. Does this look like a steal with the fairly benign board? Is this just begging even A/K to come back over the top with something I can't call? |

That's pretty standard and there are a few alternate lines you can take. Leading the flop is pretty standard as well.

sorry. I was deliriously tired when I wrote the initial post. stack sizes were closer to 1200 each. Certainly I can call and likely would, I just meant I'd mull it over somewhat, the idea of going to the felt with jacks against an unknown.

Considering this is early in your session, the villian likely puts you on a blind defense and figures you floped a set of 5's with your A5 or x5 and knows he is toast after you call his CB bet and lead the turn.
If you had several orbits together in the session, things likely would be different. But not too many people playing 5/10 live are going to war with an unknown in the BB with a flop like that without a strong read, which is unlikely considering the time you have at the table. |

On some occasions, I might've been inclined to flat call the CB and lead the turn. Does anyone like this better?
Is calling the flop and check raising a safe turn conceivable? I guess that has an obvious downside if raiser checks behind with overs... The flop CR seemed to provide some insight re: his holdings, especially early in the session. |
