Rumors about neteller having their bank accounts closed
Although I'm reluctant to post mere rumors about which I have zero personal knowledge, in light of firepay's recent pullout, rumors about neteller having their bank account closed by Barclays are so signficant that I think it merits posting. This is all not good.
Opinions on what do with money in neteller welcome. http://www.majorwager.com/index.cfm?...how_column=289 |

Re: Rumors about neteller having their bank accounts closed
That is the same unsubstantiated source that Coy_Roy used and continually refers to. Neteller's statment, which you can find in one of the stickies above (link for same) says nothing of the such. And this has been discussed in other threads as well and there was no need to make a new one for it. That isn't to say they won't take a similar route, but just that online sports betting affiliate sites, including those masquerading as news sites continually put out rumours and innuendo with nothing to back it up, as does Gambling911. If they are proven right on something like this, it will on be by dint of making enough speculative assertions that statistics makes it certain they will be right on some small number of same.

Fair enough Bluff. Still, the question of what happens to Neteller, and what decisions it itself makes, is of crucial importance to on-line poker in the US, for a variety of reasons.

Yes but unsubtantiated rumours add nothing to the discussion here. See the Firepay thread for a thorough discussion of neteller as well.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree. However, the discussion about Neteller's business practices or whether suitable alternatives will pop up belongs in Internet Gambling. |

Re: Rumors about neteller having their bank accounts closed
It would be idiotic for Barclays to close a Neteller bank account and contrary to every business reason.
Briefly, Neteller really DOES do a high percentage of business outside the US. There is a huge online gaming market outside the US, which Neteller has actively pursued. I cannot see how this "Barclays rumor" would have credibility. |

[/ QUOTE ] Hypothetically speaking, Barclays could insist that Neteller withdraw from the U.S. market if they want to continue doing business at Barclays. That might leave Neteller with few options if they want to protect that huge non-U.S. business you referred to. Long-term (meaning 1-2 years) I don't see how the respectable online payments company that serves the rest of the world can be the same business that does the dirty work that will be necessary to continue serving American online gamblers. Doesn't make business sense to me. |

Re: Rumors about neteller having their bank accounts closed
the guy that owns that site has a vested interest in lying about neteller and trying to harm them. he owns a competing 3rd party provider. the 3rd party payment provider he owned previously went out of business owing people money.
take it for what its worth |

Closed before the bill has even been signed into law? Interesting. Judge for yourself if that makes sense.
